Users with literacy difficulties are likely to suffer major problems when reading the written word. Read & Write 10 GOLD goes some way to minimising barriers to learning, as every piece of text can be speech enabled.

The result of this is that users do not have to struggle to comprehend written information as they can have the text played back to them in an audio format.

This feature therefore enables users to work more efficiently as they do not need to spend large amounts of time trying to comprehend text.

The spell checking facility provided by mainstream word processors such as Microsoft Word do not fully meet the needs of users with literacy or learning difficulties.

The Phonetic Spell Checker in Read & Write10 GOLD provides such users with the added support they need as the program recognises their unique spelling patterns & makes suggestions accordingly. The result of this is a higher level of relevant suggestions for the User, as the spell checker is uniquely capable of recognising the word the user is trying to spell.

The spell checking facility also provides audio visual definitions of the suggested words, therefore allowing users to assure themselves that the word they are going to use is correct. This is expected to enable users to build their vocabulary & confidence.

Now there is no need to learn a whole new way of creating & editing text - just use the word processor you have always used. Read & Write Gold edition will also read PDF documents!

Toolbar – the toolbar is now more user friendly & flexible - there is a choice of toolbars with many new icons now docking to sides or top.

Word Prediction – the Core prediction dictionary has been enlarged & the Custom dictionary is easier to use.

Scanning - scan any text document or saved image into MS Word or any other major word processor. Once scanned, the text may be read aloud in any one of five display/audible methods ensuring the user has the perfect listening & learning experience. It now supports high speed scanners with document feeders, & two sided (Duplex) scanning.

Speech Maker – now with better quality voices, faster & easier to use! Convert your text to MP3, WMA or WAV audio files & listen to your text on the move with portable personal devices. Files are quickly saved using your last saved settings.

Fact Folder – output to web & Fact Mapper - a study or research tool for planning & organizing thoughts & ideas; capture text from any application or the internet, classify it, attach pictures, bibliography information & record its source. This is excellent for revision.

Fact Mapper – the new Fact Mapper utility can be used with Fact Folder or independently allowing the user to brainstorm, revise, outline & output to web. Fact Mapping has been shown to help achieve higher exam grades.

Teacher Toolkit – allows teachers to add groups & import users using an Active Directory.

Scientific Calculator - an on-screen talking calculator provides all the main functions of a scientific calculator with a spoken audit trail & multiple display memory locations.

Pronunciation Tutor – Unique - breaks words into syllables, read out by the on screen moving mouth. Pronunciation is enhanced by use of the International Phonetic Alphabet & phoneme information.
